Surely I am not the only one waiting for this one to get launched. Seems like Magento took some resting time and left us waiting on Magento 1.4 version. I remember their release timeliness from version 1.2-1.3.2.4. Seemed like they are publishing new release every few weeks.
Looking at features of Magento 1.4 makes me wanna pause all of the “soon to be started” development project with current version. One of the “biggest” requests when it comes to our clients is the WordPress plus Magento integration.
Most of the times, clients wish a decent content (article) management features like those in WordPress. As most of you do (development people), our integration mainly comes down to visual integration unlike logical integration. This lead us to few dead ends. Magento is huge, its “modern”, its Zend. WordPress on the other hand is so “old”. Integrating these two we end up messing around two completely different platforms.
Hopefully, with Magento 1.4, the integration requests will begin to fade. One of the features that was desperately needed in Magento is WYSISWG with file and photo upload. I would dare to say this is the primary reason people ask for WordPress integration. Its not because they write so much blog posts, its because they feel comfortable with point and click.
This is where the new Magento 1.4 features come in place. Below are two screenshots that demonstrate the WYSIWYG feature and related file/photo upload functionality.
Looking forward to full Magento 1.4 release, I am sure it will change a thing or two.
