Enough is enough, goodbye Facebook

This morning I was shocked by pretty unpleasant surprise when I logged into my Facebook account. Before I describe a nature of the “surprise”, let me just describe my level of Facebook usage. I found my self to be one of those “I got the account opened, but I rarely use it, plus my friends number is below 50″. I opened my Facebook account few years ago. My usage was mostly concentrated trough half of year and somewhere around the time I opened it.

I just don’t see Facebook fit on my “freelance” business level, and from friends perspective I like more personal approach or possible Skype/Yahoo/GoogleTalk chat. In regards to that, few months ago, I deleted all my photos and posts (status updates made during all these years of usage), changed the security level to maximum, etc. All that was left on my account was my profile photo and 2-3 personal info labels.

Everything was OK for these few months until this morning I logged in. When I logged in I saw bunch of my posts (status updates) from 2008 appeared and listed on my wall.

Questions instantly popped my mind. WTF? Who is this “Facebook” and what gives it the right not to delete something I specifically tell it to delete. What gives it the right to lie to you that something is deleted just to be reappeared few months later? What gives it right not to allow you to delete your account once its created?

Some of you might not see this as “that big of a deal”, but I do. Stuff like this makes you wonder, what tomorrow brings to all of us. Luckily I was not hooked onto it as some are.

I don’t see my life fitting into “Public Is the New Social Norm” paradigm.

“Thank” you Facebook, but no more, I’m off.

It's a relief to know that their are others not socially reliant on facebook.

Amen Branko. Any organization with such vast amounts on info on large groups of people WILL eventually throw their weight around.
Better just to sit back and watch.
